The operation

I have been so busy lately and just too tired and not in the right frame of mind to write up my blog. Must have been visiting the hospital twice a day, answering all the phone calls and emails and all the extra jobs I have to do at the moment that Tony is unable to do. Like scoop out the leaves and look after the pool, take Pinto for walks, wait on Tony as he is unable to drive or lift or bend and just all the general run of the house.
After Tony came out of hospital last Saturday everything was going even better then he expected and he was feeling quite good. That is until Tuesday afternoon when he was unable to pee. He rang the doctor and he said to get to hospital asap. So we sent to Westmead Public Hospital as there is no emergency dept at Westmead Private. They took him in straight away and the male nurse put a catheter in and as the emergency was now over we then had to wait our turn to see a doctor. We had arrived at the hospital at 7.15pm and didn't get a cubicle
until 11pm. We then had to tell several people what the problem was and finally a boy doctor arrived (he couldn't have been any more than 15 or am I getting too old). This doctor then proceeded to take a blood test. It took him 3 goes before he was successful (I was about to grab the needle out of his hand and say I will do it) and this was with a maintenance guy holding a large torch so he could see as the lights in the cubicle were not working. I waited with Tony until 3.30am trying to sleep on 2 small chairs put together when the nurse said the blood tests were a bit wacky and showed some infection and that he wouldn't be out for a few hours or he may even be admitted. I then decided I would go home as I needed sleep. I guess I must have needed sleep as I ended up driving down the busway going home. Just as well there are not to many cars and buses on the road at that time. The hospital rang at 8.00am to come and pick Tony up. He goes back to the specialist next Thursday to have the catheter removed.

This is just a short blog as we have just returned from Craig and Danielle's place. It was Amy's seventh birthday.

What next!

We are sweltering in Sydney today while the UK are freezing. Getting ready in a minute to have lunch with Nora at our usual cafe......we are shouting this time.

Had my car serviced yesterday so it will be ready for my big trip to Nelson Bay at the end of the month. We dropped the car off at around 8.3oam and continued on to Castle Hill and thought we would see a movie. The one we wanted to see "It's Complicated" didn't start until 12.30pm so we decided on another one called "Did you hear about the Morgans". We settled down and the ads came on but only half the screen was showing and after someone went and mentioned it to them it was corrected. Then a trailer came on but there was no sound. The lights came back on and the young usher said they were having projector difficulties and things should be soughted out shortly. We had been waiting about half an hour and an elderly gentleman in his eighties got up and went to the front and began to tell us about some of the things that happened to him in
World War 2. Much to my surprise everyone listened intently, even the younger ones ( I think they couldn't believe what was happening), and all clapped him at the finish. About 10 minutes later the usher came back and said they would have to close this theatre as the problem could not be fixed at this time. They gave us our money back and 2 complimentary tickets. By this time Tony had had enough and lost interest so we went home. The movie we were seeing I believe wasn't that crash hot anyway. The only reason I wanted to see it was I like Sarah Jessica Parker but Hugh Grant is like a limp fish.

The hospital rang Tony yesterday and he doesn't go in until 2.30pm on Monday........the morning is going to drag. You know what it is like when you are going to the airport, you just want to get there and get on with it.

Just got back from the Little Rock Cafe lunch with Nora. Another catastrophe, we ordered and were waiting about 45 minutes and nothing arrived. It was not as if we ordered something that had to be actually cooked like the people at the next table we had already received theirs. One of the waitresses, not the miserable one that originally served us, saw that we had not yet eaten and went to sought things out. I would say the original girl just threw our order in the bin. Fifteen minutes later we received our lunch with an apology from the cook and the waitress. We thought we might get lunch for free but we were only offered free coffee or drinks. I wonder what number 3 mishap will be????

Just an Idea!

For cats confined to apartments. Just an idea!
Well my first blog for 2010. I have just had a relaxing 4 days, which I badly needed, as I have been flat out for the last month. Now I have to get ready for our visitors at the end of this month but beforehand Tony's visit to hospital.
We have a pre op visit this Tuesday and then Tony goes in the following Monday for about 6 days.
Our visitors ......Grant and a friend from WA are stopping off for a few days before they go to New Zealand and Barry from England arrives for two weeks the next day. In the meantime I will be at Nelson Bay for 3 days when Grant first arrives but hopefully Tony will be recovered enough to pick them up from the airport otherwise they will have to make their own way.
We had the company of Lennie and Bandit for a few days when Melissa left. Bandit was top dog and scavenged all the food and Lennie and Pinto let him.
The two visitors slept in the laundry while Pinto had the kitchen to himself and we didn't hear a peep out of them until around 5.45am when we let them out for a wee.
We took them to the park and they all had a good run around and when they returned home they all had a nap. Lennie was on his best behaviour and had even curtailed his barking.
Pinto was a bit mopey when they left for a day or so but is back to normal now.
Kerry-Ann gave me a voucher for 3 months worth of dvds from Quickflix. I watched the first of these last week which was called Brick Lane. It was about a 17 yr old girl from a Bangladeshi village who is thrown into an arranged marriage to an older man and goes to live in a flat in London's East End where she pines for her sister back home. She struggles to make sense of her existence - and to do her duty to her husband. Told from birth she must not fight her fate.
It was quite a moving film.
